Agree with Chris and Pascal. Have two choices: Preferences and My Account. Unlike Pascal, I think two headers would be better than putting both under one heading.

Definitely, “Preference” and/or “Options”. I would think to go to “My Account” to change my email address or password, not change the look/behavior of a program.

I’d vote for something like what Pascal mentions. I don’t like the idea of mixing them under one heading though. To me they are quite different things and mixing them wouldn’t feel right.

For me, things like passwords, email address and other contact info are really part of “My Account”. Things like color theme, screen layout and font size are part of “Preferences”. And both “My Account” and “Preferences” are part of “Settings”. So I would name the main link “Settings”, with an “Account” section and a “Preferences” section(s). This is what GMail does and I find it pretty intuitive.

“Preferences” seems to be a better way to go. “My Account” seems like it would only have prima facie information, not a full set of preferences/options.

‘Preferences’ would be ideal IMHO. ‘Settings’ is another idea, though I prefer the former.
