Quick Hits

Dougal Campbell has written the first in-depth review of FeedLounge. (Note: there are three pages)

Here is a simple bookmarklet for subscribing to a feed in FeedLounge:

Add to My FeedLounge

To use the bookmarklet:

  1. Drag the link above to your bookmarks bar.
  2. When you come across a feed you want to subscribe to, click on the link to the feed (this should load the feed in your browser).
  3. Click the ‘Add to My FeedLounge’ bookmark.

That should do it.

Thrilled

Today’s response has been wonderful. Thank you to everyone who has signed up for the beta, posted comments and blogged about FeedLounge.

It’s been pretty cool to see the Feedster results go from 2 to 30+ and show up on Technorati. It’s also pretty cool to see people tagging us on del.icio.us.

There has been some great feedback already in the forums, and we’ve gotten a number of of very supportive blog posts and quite a few more from people interested to try it out.

Perhaps the most rewarding has been the comments we’ve received through our beta/info form. The common theme we have heard all day is, “I’m not satisfied with what I’m using for reason X, and it looks like FeedLounge may be an improvement.” Obviously, we both felt this way, but until you launch to a public audience, it’s hard to know how many others feel the same.

For all of you that have signed up for the beta, we are glad you are excited and we promise we are working hard to get FeedLounge ready for you. Thank you for your patience.

FeedLounge Alpha

We are thrilled to announce the alpha launch of FeedLounge!

FeedLounge is a web-based feed reader with a very powerful interface. It handles both RSS and Atom feeds and has fun features like tagging of feeds and feed items, keyboard commands and saving items from feeds. Take a look at the screenshots on the home page and the Getting Started tutorial in the FAQ section for more details.

This initial alpha release has a dual purpose:

  1. Get early feedback from users to make any needed changes before a wider beta release.
  2. Evaluate server usage to make sure our hardware estimates are accurate.

If you’d like to be kept up to date with major milestones as FeedLounge development continues, or would like to be considered as a beta tester, please fill out the form on the bottom of the home page. We can’t wait to release FeedLounge to a larger audience.
