Alpha 4 Update

FeedLounge is now running on our Alpha 4 release. This release fixes a few bugs, but the mainly this release is about adding new features:

  • 401 Authentication Support - you can now subscribe to your password protected feeds in FeedLounge.
  • Private Feeds - if you mark a feed private, tags you apply to that feed and items from that feed will remain private. Note: all 401 authenticated feeds are automatically marked “private”.
  • History Page - a simple interface for browsing items you’ve read in the last week by date.
  • Tag and Search Subscriptions - we’ve added an easy interface (3rd tab in the Add window) for adding tag subscriptions from del.icio.us, Flickr and Technorati; and search subscriptions from DayPop, Feedster and Yahoo News.

Enjoy the new features and if you run into anything unexpected, let us know in the forums.

  1. FeedLounge Alpha 4

FeedLounge has been bumped to alpha 4. The main excitement in this release for me is the addition of support for 401 authenticated feeds. Now I can subscribe to the FeedLounge task RSS feeds created by Tasks Pro™. :)

    This also creates addition…

  2. OFF topic: Can you please ask Bloglines support to reset your feed? It stuck about a week ago and looks like you haven’t post since then…

I wonder how you manage this for FeedLounge… What happens when a feed is not responding? How often do you check it and when do you decide it’s never coming back?

  3. Dimitris,

Bloglines is hitting the FeedLounge site every 2 hours, and we are sending the proper response for them.

On managing this for FeedLounge, we keep trying the feed even if it errors out, checking it every day. Once it comes back, the update interval moves to half of the average of the length between posts. We never make the decision that it is never coming back, we leave that up to the user. This will change in the future based on our experience.

  4. OK, I investigated this a little further and:

    http://feedlounge.com/blog/feed/ is fine
You can see it in bloglines here (79 subscribers):

http://feedlounge.com/blog/feed/ is stuck (and is what I was subscribed to)
You can see it in bloglines here (62 subscribers):

  5. I’m not sure what the second URL was supposed to be, but the only URL published here on the site is:

    http://feedlounge.com/blog/feed/

  6. I meant to write
    http://feedlounge.com/feed/

It works if called directly, but is stuck on Bloglines… How can you not know what it is when 62 people are subscribed to it? :)
