?.feedlounge.com
Right now we’ve got the FeedLounge reader (the ‘Lounge as we refer to it internally) running on: “my.feedlounge.com”.
I’m not sure that “my.” is really the best URL for the ‘Lounge1, and if we’re going to change it we have to do so before Monday.
Here is the result of our 1 minute micro brainstorm:
- lounge.feedlounge.com
- reader.feedlounge.com
- read.feedlounge.com
- station.feedlounge.com
- use.feedlounge.com
- more-cowbell.feedlounge.com
- tha-ultra-good-sweetness.feedlounge.com
The comments are open - I hope you guys have some good ideas!
- Though it is short, and short is good. [back]

I think ‘my’ is very suitable (also won’t break my links *wink*). Microsoft may have pulled all the ‘My’ in Vista, but in this particular context, it’s a must. In Microsoft’s case, abbreviation was the motive for omission. So, yeah… I’m in favour of no change.
the. ?
Maybe that would make us cool like Ohio State.
I think my.* makes the most sense. The user is looking at their feeds. So … unless you want to pull up a thesaurus for the word “my” and see if you see a better option … I’d suggest no change. I guess what I’m saying is you’re already indicating the right meaning, so unless you can tailor it down further by use of another word … doesn’t make sense to change it.
Use :
read.feedlounge.com
my.feedlounge.com
cowbell.feedlounge.com
i’d do 3 because people rememeber stuff differently; some people are yahoo heads so hte ‘my’ will resonate; some people are functional so the read will resonate and some people will be tickeled by cowbell and use that religiously. Never, ever overlook the chance to use humor in marketing. Amuse even one person and he’ll tell 10 people coz you brought a smile to him. That’s huge.

Matt - I believe part of building a superior product is going back and re-thinking decisions to make sure they are right; this is one of those times. It’s quite possible that “my.” is the right solution, but I don’t want it to be because that was what we threw in there six months ago.
Scott - interesting idea, and I think it makes some sense. We would need to have one as a default for the login redirect and documentation, however having the others as “hidden” URLs might be cool.

chilling… you get the idea
Stick with “my”. It works, is short, simple and crisp.

I would suggest you use ‘it.feedlounge.com’
It because reader is really such a non-charismatic name
and also it because you folks have kept it under wraps for so so long that it is now an enigma …
the caveat in the above is that, after having waited for so long, it better be worth it
you folks better have a bloglines killer !
Thumbs up for “my”.
+1 for “my”
Maybe because I’m an Opera fanboy, but I’m used to this convention from my.opera.com, so it feels right to me.
Also, many of the other comments have good points such as “short, simple and crisp”. I would actually like my.fl.com/org/net better
but they’re all taken…
look.
see.
oh.
ha.
or one personalized option for user’s choice.
When users login in, they can see the different urls which they set.
that’s funny.
the.feedlounge.com
mois.feedlounge
jaime.feedlounge (ie i love feedlounge)
cest.feedlounge
feeds.feedlounge
fish.feedlounge
food.feedlounge
I think “the.feedlounge.com” would be coolest. I never liked “my.feedlounge.com” that much to be honest…
As an alternative, you could just not use the subdomain at all, how about that? So it’s just accessible via http://feedlounge.com/feedlounge/ or something
Alex, don’t get me wrong, I’m all about questioning how things are done to make sure they’re still relevant. I think I was mainly trying to say, it doesn’t really appear broken. So if you’re going to change it, make sure you are enhancing it, not just changing it because you thought maybe it should be changed.
