Why can’t I change a Feed URL or mark an existing feed as Private?
In a centralized feed reading system like FeedLounge, users share feed data. Because of this, using FeedLounge is a little different than using a stand-alone feed reader.
Once you have subscribed to a feed, you cannot change the URL of that feed because other users may be subscribed to the same feed. To subscribe to a different URL, you can unsubscribe from the feed and add a new subscription with the desired URL.
FeedLounge supports give you the ability to mark a feed as “private” and gives you the ability to subscribe to password protected feeds (using 401 authentication). Because of the way feeds are shared between users, it is important to mark these feeds as “Private” or “Authentication Required” when you first sign up so that they are not pushed into the collection of shared feeds.
