Using Tags

A tag is a word that you associate with a feed or an item. FeedLounge uses tags to allow you to organize information in a way that makes sense to you. You can add, update and remove tags from feeds and feed items.

Tags are typed into a text field, separated by spaces. You can add as many tags as you like.

Tagging Feeds

By adding tags to your feeds you can organize your feeds by topic, priority, or anything else that is important to you. If you add several tags to a feed, the feed will be included in each of these tags.

You can add tags to a feed when you initially subscribe to the feed, or at any time after you subscribe by clicking the Feed Info button in the toolbar.

Reading Tagged Feeds

You can select those tags to read all items from feeds under each tag. When you click on a tag in the feeds list, all unread items and all items read within the last 24 hours for all feeds under that tag will appear in the items list.

For example:

• a-list or must-read - by adding this tag to your favorite feeds, you can make sure you see when there are new items in those feeds. You can also start your feed reading with this tag, making sure you don’t miss anything from your favorite sources.
• news - a popular tag for sources like CNN, The New Yorkl Times or The Washington Post. Having all of these sources under one tag makes it very easy to skim all your news headlines.

Tagging Items

Adding tags to items is a great way to create a library of information for yourself. Adding a tag to an item is very easy. Just press the ‘t’ key or click in the Tags box for an item:

Now type in whatever tags you like and click the Add button or the ‘return’ key. You can add tags one at a time, or several at a time by separating them with spaces.

Browsing Tagged Items

When you add a tag to an item, you can then browse items by those tags. You can enter the tag browsing interface by clicking the Tags button in the top toolbar, or by clicking on the tag link you’ve given to an item. Clicking the tag link for an item will automatically select that tag when loading the tags screen.

Editing and Removing Tags

Editing and removing tags from a feed very simple - just go to tag the feed or item and replace, edit or delete the tags as you see fit. Your changes will take place momentarily.

To remove a tag from an item, you just click on the X next to the tag you want to remove.
